Ferrari 641 – 1990

When industrial design meet contemporary art.

Not many know that the Ferrari 641 better known as F1-90 beside being the car that let the Scuderia winning its 100th Grand Prix in Formula1 thanks to driver Alain Prost, it is also the one and only racing car that ever was allowed to become part of the permanent collection of artworks at the Museum of Modern Art of New York – MOMA.
Its design is beautiful, it has a form that reminds that of a violin, and it shines because of its simplicity and sleekness, which again demonstrates how beautiful human creations are most of the times the result of cristal clear intuitions and they are not overworked and overcomplicated.
Basically the opposite of today’s Formula 1 designs.
The Ferrari 641 was completed for the racing season in 1990, and was piloted by Alain Prost and Nigel Mansell.
Beside the unique design we remember also the semi automated gearbox controlled directly behind the steering wheel.
